Congratulations and thank you for taking this step toward a happier and healthier you!
Living with IBS is tough! But it doesn’t have to be so – it is time to feel better, enjoy life and do all the things you want to do every day. I am excited to see what is possible for you!
About IBSWise
IBSWise is meant to give you a thorough overview on irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) – what it is, what we know about it, and what can we do about it. The information is in a course format to make it easier to organize the material, but I’m not testing you on it.
Because IBS is still not completely understood and there is no therapy that would help everyone with IBS, and also because every individual is a complex sum of lifestyle and personality traits, no one-size-fits-all solution for IBS exists at this time. This is why I have jam-packed this course with information and tools to help you find the solutions that work for you.
However, this website is not intended as a substitute for individualized medical advice. Also, if you haven’t been tested for the presence of other GI illnesses and you are suspecting you have IBS, you may use this site as an informational tool if there are no red flags present, but ideally you should have other GI disorders ruled out.
If you have an IBS diagnosis, but are not sure if it is correct, I encourage you to talk with your doctor to make sure that all the necessary tests have been done and that you understand and can trust the diagnosis. If nothing has been missed, and IBS diagnosis is a reality, it is important to accept it, so that you can begin to receive the right therapies. What you don’t have to accept, is that your IBS will remain difficult forever. Even though it is said IBS has no cure, there is MUCH you can do to help yourself improve your symptoms and your quality of life.
This is why I am so passionate about delivering this information to you: I sincerely want you to feel better! I know how debilitating IBS can be and how it can wreak havoc to your peace of mind. I know how difficult it can be to find the correct information and the best treatment. I know how difficult it can be to be taken seriously. I wanted to create a place for people like you to find all the information they need to understand the syndrome and even more importantly, find the most effective ways to improve their symptoms.
There is much information not only on dietary modifications (and not just on the low FODMAP diet) but also on ways to decrease your stress levels that tend to influence symptoms; often stress is the biggest culprit! So, the approach of this program is a whole-body approach, with the aim of helping you find the combination of interventions that work for you.
A very important factor in IBS management is mindset. Being diagnosed doesn’t mean that you will always have to worry and be careful about the things you do or foods you eat. Treat the diagnosis as a starting point, a place you will start to make changes that make a difference.
Try not to think of IBS as something that identifies you, but as a challenge that can be overcome. So often we sabotage our efforts to feel better by believing it’s not possible.
If you find help on these pages, or even if you don’t, I would love to hear it! Here you can find the feedback form. And here are the terms and conditions and the privacy policy.
On the next page I will go over the structure of IBSwise and give you a suggested order in which to go through the material.
