Hello, I'm Anna-Kaisa
Your guide to understanding where your irritable bowel syndrome is coming from so that you can finally start doing the right things that truly support your digestion.
I help people with all types of IBS to find out what helps them to ease symptoms, especially focusing on what is causing and maintaining them. Without taking away your favorite foods.
I am on a mission to help you calm the disordered gut-brain communication, the root cause of IBS that wreaks havoc on your gut health and mental health, so that you can live a life that looks more like you again.
What is gut-brain communication? It's that feeling of butterflies in your belly when you are nervous or excited. It's the mechanism by which emotions and even thoughts affect your digestion - in good and in bad. Disruption in this communication is the true cause of IBS - this is why IBS is now classified as a disorder of gut-brain interaction. Read more here.

Unique expertise
in nutrition and yoga practices
IBS is about so much more than just food. This is why a comprehensive, whole-being approach that addresses all aspects of gut health is needed for lasting results. This includes carefully selected yoga practices tailored to your unique needs.
Yoga practices are part of my work for a reason. In my own life, through repeated life challenges, it dawned on me that changing what you eat, or how much exercise you get is not enough for true wellbeing. Having tools that help you become resilient to life's stressors is equally important as a balanced diet and a thoughtfully designed exercise routine.
Yoga practices provided the solution. I rely on them in my own life, and offer them to my clients as ways to fill them with calmness, steadiness, and clarity that are not easily attainable by other means, especially with something like IBS going on at the same time. Scientific studies show that these same practices help you ease IBS symptoms, as well.
I am trained as a yoga and meditation teacher as well as a registered dietitian (a graduate of UC Berkeley and UC San Francisco) and can offer you something unique – a whole-body approach to IBS that builds resilience of the body, mind, and spirit for best IBS care.

Seventy-five to 90% of all healthcare visits are linked to stress. I am on a mission to change that.

Why I do what I do
As a young adult, I was eating whatever, having gut trouble, gaining weight and feeling off.
What triggered me to change my lifestyle was seeing a picture of an unhealthy person: me. I decided that this is not how I want to go on living! From then on, I changed my diet and built a lifestyle that made me feel so much better.
Not only did I lose weight and balance my gut, but I also noticed how light mentally I was feeling too. This experience showed me what you need to do to instill lasting habits, and I just had to become a health professional to help others do the same.
The only thing I'd do differently now is to seek expert help early as my approach at first was not the most healthy one and there was a real risk of overdoing it. This is what I recommend to you also, if you are looking for a lifestyle that supports your health in every way.

Why IBS?
01
Full disclosure
I personally don’t have IBS. But this is probably a good thing, as I don't reflect everything I recommend back to me and instead fully individualize care to your needs. But I've had my share of digestive issues, so I know how debilitating IBS symptoms can be.
02
IBS stood out
...as something we could manage so much better. Too much false information is out there and too few practitioners talk about the gut-brain axis - the most important piece of the IBS puzzle! The results people were getting when I wasn't focusing on this yet were meager at most and this wasn’t enough for me.

The gut-brain axis
I'm fascinated by the constant communication between the gut and brain! I completed the Monash University IBS training and have been researching the topic extensively ever since. I poured all this knowledge into IBSwise, my all-in-one online program that empowers you with IBS wisdom and gives you the tools that strengthen your gut from the outside (right food) and from the inside (gut-brain axis tools).
